US President Donald Trump has said he does not want any further extension of the ceasefire, expressing confidence that the Iran issue will be resolved through a major deal.

Speaking in an interview with a US television channel, Trump said the United States is handling matters with Iran very successfully and remains in a strong position in the negotiations.

He added that the blockade of Iran has been effective and stressed that there is limited time left on the matter.

“The United States is fully prepared to take military action if necessary,” he said.

Trump also noted that he would not make any hasty decisions regarding Iran, reiterating that he does not favour extending the ceasefire and believes the situation will be resolved through a significant agreement.

He said that if Iran agrees to a deal, it could find itself in a much stronger position, adding that Tehran has no option but to negotiate.

He further claimed that the US has already neutralised Iran’s naval and air capabilities, as well as elements of its leadership.

In addition, the US president said discussions are ongoing regarding a potential currency exchange arrangement with the United Arab Emirates, adding that he would assist the UAE if possible.

Trump also remarked that he is surprised that both Iran and the UAE are wealthy nations.
