A Turkish military cargo aircraft crashed near the Azerbaijan–Georgia border, according to Turkey’s defence ministry.
According to the ministry’s statement posted on X, the C-130 transport plane had departed from Azerbaijan and was returning to Turkey when the incident occurred.
Officials have not yet released information on the number of crew aboard the aircraft at the time of the crash. The ministry confirmed that a coordinated search and rescue mission is underway with assistance from Azerbaijani and Georgian authorities.
The C-130 model is a core component of Turkey’s military fleet, commonly deployed for troop transport and logistical support missions. Turkey and Azerbaijan maintain longstanding and close defence ties, frequently conducting joint exercises and operations.

Local media, including Turkey’s private broadcaster NTV, aired footage said to capture the moment of the crash. The video shows the aircraft spiralling toward the ground, trailing a visible plume of white smoke before impact.
