In a heartwarming case, veterinarians have successfully operated on a 21-year-old parrot, removing a life-threatening tumour and saving his life.

According to Indian media, the parrot's owner noticed a lump on its neck six months ago, which was growing gradually.

The parrot faced many troubles, losing its ability to make sounds, speak properly, or eat, the local media reported.

The concerned owner contacted veterinarians at the local animal hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district. After examination, the doctors recommended surgery for the bird.

Last Sunday on Sep 15, a team of veterinarians performed the intricate two-hour operation and successfully removed the 20-gram tumour.

"It was a difficult operation as the tumour was in the throat area of the parrot," NDTV quoted Dr Balendra Singh as saying.

"The parrot is now out of danger and completely safe and sound," he added.

The surgery marks the first recorded case of a tumour in a bird in the district, according to veterinary expert.
