An Egyptian man has been killed after a domestic argument with his wife over charging a mobile phone turned violent.

Police in Giza said that they were alerted to a disturbance inside an apartment in 6th of October City. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the husband lying in a bedroom with a stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, local media reported.

Initial investigations, including witness accounts and questioning of the suspect, suggested the couple had argued over who would use the phone charger first as both their phones were running out of battery. The dispute quickly escalated from a verbal exchange into a physical confrontation.

Prosecutors said that the woman allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife during the altercation and stabbed her 40-year-old husband, inflicting a fatal injury. The victim’s body was moved to a central hospital morgue, and the knife was taken into custody as evidence.

The public prosecution has ordered a forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death. The wife has been taken into custody and remanded pending further investigation on suspicion of premeditated murder.
