Bette Nash, the world's longest-serving flight attendant, has died at the age of 88. American Airlines, her employer, announced her passing on X (formerly Twitter), expressing sorrow over her death and honoring her extraordinary career.

Nash's aviation journey began in 1957 when she joined Eastern Airlines, which later merged with American Airlines. Holding the Guinness World Record for the longest-serving flight attendant, she devoted nearly 70 years to the industry.

During her distinguished career, Nash became well-known among frequent travelers on the shuttle route between Washington D.C., where she resided, and Boston. She chose this route so she could return home each night, a decision made early in her career.

Although she originally planned to work for only a few years, Nash's passion for her profession led to a lifelong commitment. She never officially retired, continuously inspiring generations of flight attendants with her dedication and enthusiasm.

In a 2017 interview with CBS News, Nash revealed the secret to her long and satisfying career: "The people are exactly the same. Everybody needs a little love."
