Renowned YouTuber Yasir Shami admitted that the obscene video of late host and televangelist Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain was made viral by him on social media.

He made the revelation during his appearance in a district and sessions court in Karachi.

However, the journalist said that he uploaded the video in accordance with the law by blurring the leaked personal footage.

"I'm a journalist, they booked me in Section 21, which doesn't apply on me as I uploaded the video by blurring it," he said.

Earlier on May 9, the sessions court in the port city issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Shami in a case pertaining to allegedly leaking Hussain's obscene videos to social media.

Liaquat passed away on June 9 last year under mysterious circumstances. He was found unconscious at his house situated in Khudadad Colony of Karachi. The 50-year-old was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Some objectionable videos of Hussain had gone viral weeks before his death and couple of days after news broke of the dissolution of his third marriage.

The indecent videos featured the late politician in a state of complete undress in his home, allegedly after the consumption of an illegal substance.

Later, a case was filed by Dua Aamir, the deceased TV host's daughter against Shah, under allegations of links with the controversial videos' leak.

On January 26, 2023, a judicial magistrate (East) indicted Dania Shah in the case and she was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) cyber crime wing.
