A frustrated resident of Karachi's Clifton area has turned to the Sindh High Court (SHC) for relief from the incessant noise of her neighbour's chickens.
The petitioner alleged that her neighbour was keeping chickens without a licence, "violating her right to peaceful living".
The court questioned whether the presence of chickens, whether sold in shops or raised at home, infringes on fundamental rights.
The woman argued that this disturbance breached her fundamental civil rights, "as outlined in the Cantonment Board Act (CBA)".
However, Cantonment Board Clifton's (CBC) lawyer noted that there is no specific law regulating the keeping of chickens.
Following the arguments, the SHC has demanded a detailed report from the CBC regarding the matter, ensuring that the issue will be thoroughly examined.
