The federal government has announced a reduction in electricity prices amounting to Rs1.83 per unit, as per a notification issued by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
The revision includes a Rs0.28 per unit cut under the monthly fuel price adjustment, which will be applicable for the current billing month. This measure is expected to provide immediate financial relief to electricity consumers.
In addition to the monthly adjustment, a further Rs1.55 per unit reduction has been approved under the quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism.
This component will be implemented over a three-month period, spanning from May to July 2025.
NEPRA's notification outlines the tariff adjustments aimed at easing the financial burden on consumers amid fluctuating energy costs.
The authority regularly revises tariffs based on changes in fuel prices and other factors affecting the power sector’s financial sustainability.
