The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced an 88-paisa per unit reduction in electricity charges for one month, offering short-term relief to domestic, industrial, and agricultural consumers.

The cut applies to customers of all power distribution companies, including K-Electric.

However, lifeline consumers and electric vehicle charging stations will not benefit from this adjustment.

Consumers will see the reduction reflected in their December bills. Officials say the step is aimed at easing the financial burden on the public during the month.

In a separate move, the federal government has introduced major incentives for the industrial and agricultural sectors.

The electricity tariff for additional units used by industries has been reduced from Rs34 to Rs22.98 per unit. For the agriculture sector, the rate has been lowered from Rs38 to Rs22.98 per unit.

Authorities expect this to significantly reduce overall power costs for both sectors.
