Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is preparing to resume its flight services to the United Kingdom, with a significant meeting scheduled for March 15 by the UK Department for Transport’s Safety Review Board to evaluate the situation.

Officials from PIA expressed optimism that the airline would obtain operational approval during this meeting.

Sources indicate that PIA has developed a phased strategy for reinstating flights to the UK.

In the initial phase, the airline plans to initiate direct flights from Islamabad to Manchester starting March 28. The second phase will involve launching flights from Islamabad and Lahore to London and Birmingham at a subsequent date.

In expectation of a favorable outcome from UK authorities, PIA has proactively begun preparations by issuing tenders for ground handling, catering, and crew accommodation services.

A spokesperson for PIA mentioned that the airline is currently awaiting the final verdict from the UK Department for Transport.

Should approval be granted, PIA will promptly resume its flight operations.

The UK market represents a vital component of PIA’s network, and the airline is dedicated to delivering high-quality international services to its passengers.

It is important to note that prior to the suspension of flights to the UK and Europe, PIA’s routes in these regions contributed to 37% of its overall revenue.

The airline intends to utilize its Boeing 777 aircraft for operations to the UK.

During the first phase, PIA will operate three weekly flights between Pakistan and the UK, with plans to gradually increase the frequency in response to rising demand, as stated by the spokesperson.
