In yet another blow to the already inflaton-hit populace, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Wednesday, increased power tariff by Rs2.83 per unit.
Effective immediately, consumers are set to bear the brunt of an escalated cost, amounting to Rs2.83 per unit. This move is poised to inflict hardships on households and industries alike, exacerbating their financial woes.
The decision stems from an adjustment in March's monthly fuel charges, forcing consumers to brace themselves for a significant surge in their electricity bills this month.
With this tariff revision, consumers are projected to shoulder an additional burden of Rs26 billion, compounding the already mounting economic pressures faced by households and businesses nationwide.
However, amidst the gloom, there is a glimmer of relief for certain segments of consumers. The increased tariffs will not be levied on Lifeline and K Electric customers, sparing them from the immediate impact of this tariff adjustment.
