LAHORE: A high alert was declared in Lahore following the emergence of three more cases of monkeypox from Mayo Hospital.

The three sufferers were known only as Safdar 35, Tayyab 35 and Tanzeela 44. Mayo Hospital does not have an isolation ward.

With these fresh cases, the number of confirmed monkeypox cases in Lahore has reached seven and public health authorities are closely following them.

The city’s best tertiary-care hospitals have been monitoring a rise in suspected infections,… particularly after Mayo Hospital reported four cases during the last three weeks including those announced recently.

The hospital officials said that confirmed patients are in isolation and that contact-tracing measures have been put into effect.

On high-alert SOPs A medical team is also following high-alert standard operating procedures (SOPs), especially in the emergency as well as outpatient departments, where symptomatic patients are certain to arrive first.
