The world-renowned Italian fashion designer, Giorgio Armani, has passed away at the age of 91, his company announced on Thursday.
“With profound sorrow, the Armani Group shares the loss of its creator, founder, and tireless guiding force: Giorgio Armani,” the fashion house said in a statement.
According to the company, Armani “died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.”
The statement added that he remained committed to his work until the very end, dedicating his final days to the brand, its collections, and a wide range of ongoing projects.
Armani established his namesake label in 1975, which quickly grew into a global symbol of refined, minimalist elegance. As the statement noted, his vision of sleek and understated style “extended from fashion to every aspect of life.”
