Renowned actor Sajal Aly reacted to a recent incident of harassment in Karachi, where a hijab-wearing woman was groped by a man in broad daylight.

The video of the incident starkly highlighted the challenges of safety faced by women in the country.

The actress shared the news of the despicable incident on her Instagram story and expressed deep concern over the increasing number of harassment cases against women, lamenting the lack of effective measures to curb such crimes.

“I am losing faith in this country. It is awful to see how common it has become for men to harass women and children,” her post read.

“I can't help but feel hopeless about where we are headed,” she added.

News of rape and harassment cases makes headlines almost daily in the country, while women face victim-blaming and an ill-equipped justice system, making it difficult for them to attain justice.

Recently, a video circulated showing a man on a bike harassing a hijab-wearing girl in the Muslim Town area of North Karachi.

The incident occurred on August 12. A child was also sitting on the bike with the suspect when he committed the heinous act.

The harasser fled the scene and remains at large, despite his face being clearly visible in the CCTV footage of the incident.
