Renowned actor Nimra Khan broke down in tears while explaining a traumatic experience in Karachi, where three men attempted to abduct her at gunpoint and despite her desperate cries for help, no one came to her rescue.

Taking to Instagram, the actress shared the details of the incident in a video, criticising the lawlessness and lack of safety for women in the country.

The ordeal she went through made her realise that women are unsafe in the country and can't go outside feeling secure.

The Umm-e-Ayesha actor was waiting for her car at Ramada Creek when a group of three men approached, put a gun to her stomach, and forcibly held her.

"There were three guards on the site, and I was shouting for help but they didn't listen to me," Nimra explained.

She managed to break free from the men and frantically ran through the streets as onlookers watched.

After a while, she managed to stop a car for help. The family inside got out and took her to the Ramada hotel.

The horrific incident took a toll on Nimra's mental health, and her mother was also hospitalised after seeing her in a state of anxiety and depression.

The Ahram-e-Junoon actor went on to ask how she, a taxpayer, could not expect protection from law enforcement agencies as no one seemed willing to take responsibility for citizens' safety.

Nimra asserted that if she had been kidnapped, there would have been an uproar for a few days, and she might never have returned to her family.

She maintained that it was now completely understandable why people chose to surround themselves with "Vigos and bodyguards" when moving around, or even settling abroad due to the prevailing lawlessness in the country.

“I am Muslim proudly but I am sorry to be a Pakistani,” Nimra said.
