Lawrence Bishnoi's cousin has claimed that Bollywood star Salman Khan offered a "blank cheque" to settle the dispute of hunting a blackbuck.
The conflict between Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and the Lawrence Bishnoi community has become quite serious, stemming from events that began with the 1998 blackbuck hunting case.
The Bishnoi community considers blackbucks sacred.
Ramesh Bishnoi, a cousin of the imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, publicly reaffirmed the community’s unwavering support for Lawrence amidst the controversy.
This statement comes in response to allegations that Salman Khan attempted to offer financial compensation to the community to resolve tensions, a claim Ramesh vehemently denied. "If we were after money, we would have accepted it," Ramesh said in an interview with NDTV.
Ramesh also expressed the emotional impact of the blackbuck incident, stating, "Hamara khoon khol raha tha uss waqt (Our blood was boiling at that time),”
The situation has intensified alarmingly. Recently, Mumbai Police have arrested a man from Jamshedpur who had threatened Bollywood actor Salman Khan in the name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore.
Earlier on October 21, the Mumbai police received an apology from the same sender who threatened the Tiger actor on October 18, stating that the message was "sent by mistake." The initial threat message was sent to the number of Mumbai Traffic Police's control room on October 18 after the murder of politician Baba Siddique and a close friend of Khan.
