Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Saturday announced ' Mera Layari' movie to highlight the true culture, peace, and positive identity of the area in response to the Indian movie Dhurandhar.
Memon announced on his X account.
He said the film will present Lyari as a hub of culture, resilience, and harmony, countering what he described as a negative and misleading portrayal in the Indian production.
"Indian movie Dhurandhar is yet another example of negative propaganda by the Indian film industry against Pakistan, especially targeting Lyari. Lyari is not violence—it is culture, peace, talent, and resilience. Next month Mera Lyari will release, showing the true face of Lyari: peace, prosperity, and pride. #MeraLyari 👊👊👊👊👊," Memon posted on his X account.

The movie is facing backlash after its release.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the film has not been granted release permission in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia or the UAE.
A source quoted in the report said that authorities in these states were reluctant to approve the movie due to how it portrays Pakistan, adding that similar films have also faced ban in the past.
