Singer Saif Samejo has spoken out about the police torture he endured during the Sindh Rawadari March.
The incident occurred outside the Press Club, where police clashed with march participants, including Samejo. The singer in a video statement explained that he participated in the march to promote tolerance and diversity in Sindh, alongside women and families.
Samejo stated that the march was peaceful and had obtained necessary permits. However, a religious group announced a counter-protest, prompting the administration to impose Section 144, banning all gatherings.
Samejo recounted that the atrocities they faced were typically seen in movies. He was later taken to a police station, where ministers contacted him, seemingly amused by the situation.
“We gathered for a better society, a better Sindh. A better Pakistan—free from hatred and suffocation, where the coming generations can breathe freely. And we will march again, again, and all over again. No one can take away this strength and smile.
Fellow artists, including Sanam Marvi and Shehzad Roy, had earlier condemned the police brutality against Samejo, sharing viral videos of the incident.
