Maria B serves Rs100m defamation notice to Turkish influencer Türkan Atay

Fashion designer Maria B, real name Maria Butt, has issued a Rs100 million defamation notice to Turkish influencer Türkan Atay following allegations of unpaid dues related to a brand shoot.

Earlier this week, Atay served a legal notice to the designer, seeking $8,000 in payments and a formal apology, after claiming she was not fully compensated for managing production for Maria B’s 2025 campaign in Turkey.

Atay shared Instagram videos alleging that the brand had agreed to pay her on a per-outfit basis, covering production costs such as location, models, and videography. She also posted screenshots purportedly showing agreements made with the brand’s PR manager.

However, according to Atay, the team later issued a lump-sum payment that did not match the initial agreement.

Atay’s legal notice, filed by her counsel Rana Intezar, demanded $8,000, including $2,000 in legal fees, $1,000 in outstanding payments, and $5,000 for emotional distress. It also called for a written public apology across all platforms where allegedly defamatory material had been posted.
