Saeed Masood Usmani has shattered age-related stereotypes by earning a PhD in Mass Communication from Federal Urdu University, Karachi, at the age of 80.

Despite facing multiple health setbacks, including several heart attacks and a stroke, Usmani persevered in his academic pursuit.

His doctoral research, titled “Popularity of FM Radio Broadcasting in Karachi and Analytical Study of Audience”, was supervised by renowned media scholar Prof. Dr. Tauseef Ahmed Khan.

The study, based on feedback from 5,126 respondents across Karachi, found that 90% of people regularly listen to FM radio and 96% believe it influences their cultural and social views.

Additionally, 86% acknowledged FM radio’s role in spreading awareness during emergencies.

Usmani was officially awarded his PhD during the 66th meeting of the Graduate Research Management Council, following a successful defense before local and international examiners.

His journey stands as an inspiring testament to the power of determination and lifelong learning.
