KARACHI: The metropolis witnessed a hot and humid day on Sunday as the mercury shot up to 38.1°C, showing an uptick in temperature from the previous day, while high humidity made conditions feel even warmer, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.
The weather department reported that the weather was hot and humid all day with a gradual increase in temperature. The weather man stated that the combination of humidity and increasing heat has raised the discomfort level for residents.
According to the report, the maximum temperature in the city was observed to be 38.1°C, which was 2.6°C above its average for April. The humidity was observed to be 41 percent, while the heat index was approximately 40°C.
The early warning centre forecasted that the city will remain relatively hot for the coming days, with temperatures exceeding 36°C.
The PMD spokesman ruled out the possibility of a heat wave due to the current spell of hot weather. Furthermore, he denied the existence of any high pressure system influencing the weather or disturbing sea breezes.
He added that the rise in temperature is part of the normal seasonal pattern, as April is typically a hot month in Karachi.
