Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday celebrated Pakistan's 77th Independence Day with blind children, highlighting the importance of inclusivity and equal rights for all citizens.

CM Maryam paid a visit to the tomb of poet of the east, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, where she laid flowers, recited Fatiha, and prayed for the country's integrity, development, prosperity, and stability.

She also unfurled the national flag at the Alamgiri gate of the Shahi Fort, where a troop of Boy Scouts offered a salute.

Later, Punjab's first woman CM addressed a special ceremony to mark the country's Independence Day in Lahore.

"We are a pioneer nation, and I congratulate the nation on this special day. I pay tribute to hero Arshad Nadeem, who showcases the immense talent in our nation," she said.

"Everyone has equal rights in Pakistan, and we must work together to make our country shine in various fields."

Nawaz Sharif's daughter also urged the political parties of the country to work together for the betterment of Pakistan.

"If there is political stability, it can become an ideal country. If we think for the country as a nation, the destiny of Pakistan can change," she added.

The provincial head also acknowledged the sacrifices of young men who gave their lives for the country, saying, "Ask the people who are oppressed about the value of freedom."

After her speech, she spent time with differently abled children, who were invited to attend the event at the special invitation of CM Maryam.

"They [blind children] may not have the ability to see, but they definitely have great insight," she wrote in a post on X.
