Field Marshal Asim Munir meets US leadership, attends CENTCOM Change-of-Command ceremony

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is currently on an official visit to the United States, where he has held meetings with senior American political and military leaders as well as members of the Pakistani diaspora.

During his visit to Tampa, the Army Chief attended the retirement ceremony of outgoing US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander General Michael E. Kurilla and the change-of-command ceremony welcoming the new CENTCOM Commander, Admiral Brad Cooper.

Field Marshal Asim Munir praised General Kurilla’s exceptional leadership and his valuable contributions toward strengthening Pakistan–US military relations.

Extending best wishes to Admiral Cooper, he expressed confidence that mutual cooperation would continue to address shared security challenges.

The COAS also met US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General David Cane, where the two discussed matters of professional interest.

Field Marshal Munir invited General Cane to visit Pakistan and also held discussions with defence chiefs of friendly nations.

In an interactive session with the Pakistani community, the Army Chief assured them that Pakistan’s future is bright and urged them to actively contribute toward promoting investment in the country.

Members of the diaspora reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Pakistan’s development and prosperity.
