Renowned Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik addressed a crucial question regarding forced conversion of religion during his first lecture at the Governor House in Karachi.

He responded to a question asked by Muttahida Qaumi Movement– Pakistan (MQM-P) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sindh Mahesh Kumar.

Kumar questioned if is it permissible in Islam for anyone to convert religion in love of any other person.

"Forced conversion of religion is forbidden in Islam," the cleric replied, adding that threats or coercion to change one's faith are also not permissible.

Dr Naik clarified that true conversion to Islam must stem from love and desire, not coercion.

"If someone accepts Islam in the love of anyone, then it's not a afzal (superior) action, but he/she can enter Islam," the globally celebrated personality added.

"We cannot know the matter of someone's heart. Maybe he/she becomes a good Muslim from an ordinary Muslim."

The eminent scholar's first lecture at the Sindh Governor House drew hundreds of attendees, including political leaders, social activists, religious leaders, and students.

Dr Naik is currently in Pakistan for a month-long visit, which began on September 30.

Upon his arrival at Islamabad airport, he was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Additional Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs Syed Dr Attaur Rehman, Parliamentary Secretary Religious Affairs Shamsheer Ali Mazari, and other dignitaries.

Dr Naik's upcoming schedule includes addressing public gatherings at Bagh-e-Quaid in Karachi on October 5 and 6, followed by private meetings from October 7 to 10.

He will then travel to Lahore and deliver lectures on October 12 and 13, and later in Islamabad on October 19 and 20.

These events will be broadcast live on Peace TV, allowing a broader audience to benefit from Dr. Naik's expertise in comparative religion.
