A geyser explosion at a four-storey residence in Karachi’s Azizabad area injured four people, including two women, authorities confirmed on Saturday.

The injured were immediately shifted to the burns ward of Civil Hospital.

Videos circulating on social media showed the lower portion of the house completely destroyed, while a large crowd of bystanders, along with ambulances and media personnel, gathered at the scene.

Police and rescue officials also arrived to assess the situation.

As temperatures drop, many people use geysers for warm water, but improper usage can pose serious risks if precautions are not taken.

Experts advise that gas geysers should not be left on for extended periods and that people should avoid bathing while the geyser is running inside a closed bathroom.

For electric geysers, the temperature should be kept between 45–50°C to prevent overheating. Gas geysers require extra caution, users should regularly check for gas leaks, ensure secure connections, and avoid keeping them on for too long.
