Free transport announced for students in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired the 24th provincial cabinet meeting, approving several key public welfare initiatives and development projects.
The cabinet approved free travel for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities across Punjab, with discussions on transport cards for students.
It also sanctioned the construction of airports in Bhakkar and Bahawalnagar, with an airstrip in Bhakkar designated for an air ambulance service.
The chief minister directed authorities to take immediate steps to lower poultry prices.

She also approved the formation of special investigation units for sexual assault cases and called for stricter crime prevention strategies.
Other decisions included strengthening riot management, enforcing traffic penalties, and introducing legal reforms.
The cabinet endorsed a World Bank-supported grading system for schools and hiring for the Sheikh Zayed Medical College cardiac centre.
Maryam Nawaz reiterated that all appointments, including the new Advocate General Amjad Pervaiz, would be made on merit.
She also highlighted the success of the Nigehbaan Ramazan Package, benefiting over 2.5 million households.
