Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said the government has reviewed the court order concerning the medical treatment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and is considering approaching the Supreme Court for a review.

Speaking about the proceedings, Tarar said the government had held consultations on various aspects of the order and would decide on the appropriate legal course.

The minister also questioned whether the court’s directions regarding Imran Khan’s treatment would apply to all prisoners facing health-related issues.

He noted that several inmates suffer from medical conditions and that convicted prisoners requiring treatment are provided care at government hospitals.

Tarar said the government would examine the implications of the order and, if necessary, seek a review from the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court (SC) ordered that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for treatment for the next few days and directed the government to arrange weekly meetings between him and his family.

The hearing came after a medical board report and a report by the Adiala Jail Superintendent submitted to the SC on Monday recommended more frequent meetings between Imran and his immediate family and spouse to help manage his blood pressure and anxiety, highlighting concerns over the former premier's blood pressure (BP).

A three-member bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed was hearing cases concerning Imran's access to his sisters and personal physicians, as well as his medical record.
