Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that the responsibility for ensuring the health of PTI founder Imran Khan was, is, and will remain with the government.

Speaking to the media, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that the government was praying for the PTI founder’s good health and had provided him with the best available healthcare facilities even without an appeal from PTI.

He said he was pleased that PTI members had continued to praise the judiciary, but added that it was strange that the judiciary was considered good when judges gave decisions in their favor, while allegations were made against the judiciary when decisions went against them. He maintained that the judiciary in Pakistan is independent and is delivering decisions on merit.

He said that the government was responsible for Imran Khan’s health and would continue to be so, adding that the Supreme Court’s decision would be implemented in letter and spirit.

The federal minister said that PTI had now become convinced that the courts were dispensing justice.

He added that everyone who had been released in the past had obtained relief through the courts, and that the courts were the only channel through which a legal path to release could be established. He said the prime minister did not have executive authority to act contrary to court decisions.

Responding to a question, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that the opposition leaders were not affiliated with PTI but had the confidence of its founder. He said the government had made it clear that the opposition leadership should have the confidence of PTI.

“It should not be the case that we hold talks while PTI leaders continue making statements against them,” he said. He welcomed the fact that PTI’s parliamentary party had expressed its full confidence in the opposition leadership.

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry further said that the prime minister would respond to the opposition leader’s letter within a day or two. After the response is issued, a venue for a joint meeting would be decided.
