Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi contacted PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar to discuss the November 24 protest and briefed him on the Islamabad High Court's ban on demonstrations in the federal capital.
The two political leaders held a detailed discussion on the prevailing political situation.
During the conversation, Mohsin Naqvi emphasised that the government is bound by the Islamabad High Court's orders and cannot permit any processions, sit-ins, or rallies.
Naqvi also informed Barrister Gohar about the engagements of a Belarus delegation scheduled from November 24 to November 27. In response, Barrister Gohar assured him that he would share the party’s final decision after internal consultations.
Earlier, a petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court by local traders seeking to block the PTI protest. The court ruled against allowing the demonstration and instructed the Interior Minister to engage with the PTI leadership to prevent the protest.
The backdoor negotiations between PTI and the government aimed at securing Imran Khan's release failed to yield results, leaving the PTI founder incarcerated in prison.
As a result, PTI decided to proceed with its call for a "do-or-die" march towards Islamabad, following the failure of negotiations and the government's refusal to release Imran Khan on Friday.
Imran Khan has outlined outlined three primary demands, including the rollback of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, the restoration of the Constitution to its original form, and the return of the party's “stolen mandate.”
He also demanded the release of all political prisoners held without trial.
