There is much-awaited good news for Karachiites as heavy rain is likely to hit the port city from today, according to the Pakistan Meteorologist Department (PMD).

“A strong rain system from the Indian Gujrat coast has entered Pakistan, which would cause heavy and moderate rain in Sindh,” said PMD chief Sardar Sarfaraz.

“Several districts of Sindh, inclduing Karachi, and Balochistan are expected to witness isolated heavy showers under the system from July 29 to 31,” he added.

The Met Office said the metropolis is expected to receive 30 to 50 millimetres of downpours through the spell.

However, weather analyst Jawad Memon said thunder-cells would likely start forming in the afternoon near the East and West parts of the city.

“The system coming from the Indian coast would remain active from Monday to Tuesday, and heavy downpours are expected under the influence of the weather,” he said in a post.

However, due to the low pressure, the port city will have hot and humid weather today (July 29).

According to the weatherman, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 36°C in the daytime.

Memon forecasted that the feels-like temperature will be at least 10 degree Celsius more than the real temperature in coastal areas due to the increase in temperature of the sea surface.

Apart from this, several parts of the city, including Tariq Road, PIB, Jail Road, and Shahrah-e-Faisal received drizzle on Monday morning.
