Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was granted permission to hold only two meetings in a week with his family members and lawyers at Adiala jail.

Jail Superintendent Rawalpindi Jail and PTI founding-chairman signed an agreement containing Standard operating procedures (SOPs) for meetings.

According to the SOPs, the matter of meeting on court orders will be subject to the consent of Imran Khan.

Imran Khan has nominated his three focal persons to organise meetings in jail, which include the PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, Sher Afzal Marwat and Barrister Umair Niazi.

The names of the meeting-desirer leaders will be given to Imran Khan by the said FOs.

As per SOPs, every focal person is allowed to give only two names for a meeting with the ousted premier.

Imran Khan is allowed to meet his family on Tuesday, while lawyers can take time of the veteran politician on Friday, SOPs mentioned.

Earlier, the Punjab government had imposed a two-week ban on meetings with prisoners in Adiala jail, citing "security threats".

On March 7, a planned terrorist attack on Adiala Jail was foiled by the police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

In a joint operation, three terrorists were arrested by the law enforcers, who were shifted to an undisclosed location.

Police also claimed to have recovered a huge amount of heavy ammunition and explosives from the terrorists.

It is pertinent to mention here that several PTI leaders, including Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pervazi Elahi, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Omar Sarfaraz Cheema, Ejaz Chaudhry, Mahmood-ul-Rasheed and others, are prisoned at Adiala jail.
