Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan is all set to reinduct former close aide Fawad Chaudhry into his party, sources said on Saturday.
According to sources, the decision was taken by the former prime minister after the ex-ruling party's Punjab chapter faced a leadership crisis in Pakistan's biggest province.
"Khan needs someone to fill the void and he has chosen Fawad Chaudhry following his incarceration and refusal to become an approver against Imran," sources added.
However, the decision will be announced by the cricketer-turned-politician next week, sources noted.
In this regard, Fawad Chaudhry will also meet Imran Khan at Adiala jail, where the latter is serving his sentence on several charges.
Fawad was one of many PTI leaders who had left the party following violence in the country on May 9, 2023, when the 71-year-old politician was arrested in the corruption case.
Although Fawad had said at the time that he was “taking a break from politics”, he was seen at the launch ceremony of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) in June.
However, Fawad had cleared the air that he had not joined any political party.
He was arrested from Islamabad on November 4 in a corruption case and after facing 5-month custody, Fawad was released from Adiala jail on April 6.
