Renowned religious scholars have condemned the recent mob lynching of a tourist man in Swat, who was burned to death for allegedly desecrating the Holy Quran.

The harrowing incident took place in Madyan area of Swat on Thursday night where an enraged mob tortured a man, whose identity is still unknown but he came to visit KP from Sialkot, on the allegations of blasphemy.

The mob first stormed the police station, where the man was taken into custody to interrogate the allegations.

Later, the crowd paraded the victim naked on the street, pelted stones at him, and then set him on fire.

Reacting to the distressing incident, President Jamia Binoria Alamiya Mufti Dr Nauman Naeem said that Islam does not permit the killing of anyone on mere allegations, without proper investigation and evidence.

Dr Naeem called for a severe investigation and punishment for the culprit involved in the killing of a Sialkot man.

Dr Aslam Khaki, a prominent scholar, questioned why governments have failed to prevent such incidents, allowing religious extremists to become a "state within a state".

Chairman Pakistan Ulama Council Allama Tahir Ashrafi said that the repeated incidents of mob killings were the failure of the state.

Khurshid Nadeem, Chairman Rahmat Al Alameen Authority, described the situation as an "emergency" at the state, judicial, and social levels.

He urged the authorities to take action to prevent further violence and ensure the safety of citizens.
