KARACHI: Counsel for the family of Mir Raza, Jibran Nasir, has welcomed Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar’s appearance before the Judicial Commission investigating the case.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, Nasir thanked the Sindh home minister for appearing before the commission and responding to its questions.
He said the commission had been established to ensure transparency and added that the home minister had responded to the commission’s queries in a positive manner.
According to Nasir, Lanjar told the commission that it could ask whatever questions it deemed necessary and said the government’s objective was to identify and expose those responsible.
Nasir said the family was pursuing action against police officials allegedly involved in the destruction or disposal of evidence.
“We hope no further hurdles will be created and that the proceedings will resume on Monday,” Nasir said.
He also urged the Sindh home minister to take up the issue of forming a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) with the provincial government.
