Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman claimed on Sunday that his party voted in favor of the 26th Constitutional Amendment at the request of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), though the PTI later failed to support the amendment itself.

Speaking at a press conference at his Islamabad residence, the JUI-F leader expressed serious concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.

He said that armed groups were operating freely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh, extorting money from the public and business community, while the government has failed to provide any relief.

Fazlur Rehman also announced a series of large-scale public marches in support of Palestine — scheduled for April 27 in Lahore, May 11 in Peshawar, and May 15 in Quetta — stating that the people of Pakistan would raise a strong voice for the Palestinian cause and contribute to financial efforts supporting the struggle.

Rejecting the recently proposed Mines and Minerals Bill, Fazl criticized his own party’s lawmakers in the Balochistan Assembly for voting in its favor and announced that they would be issued show-cause notices and face strict accountability.

He clarified that JUI-F currently has no intention of forming a formal opposition alliance but emphasized the need to maintain coordination among parties to address public issues.

Commenting on past political events, Fazlur Rehman reiterated his party’s position that the 2018 general elections were rigged and that a “selected” government had been imposed on the country.

He also accused the Sindh government of opposing irrigation projects under public pressure and asserted that JUI-F would continue its struggle for people’s rights, with strategic decisions to be made depending on evolving circumstances.
