Karachi street crime claims five lives in first five days of Ramadan

A surge in street crime has marred the month of Ramadan in Karachi, claiming five lives in just five days. All victims were killed while resisting robbery attempts, bringing the robbery-related death toll to 18 so far this year.
In a recent incident, a security guard who bravely tried to foil a heist was killed by the robbers' bullets. The deceased was taken to the hospital, but his identity could not be ascertained.
Another robbery incident occurred in Sohrab Goth, where robbers attempted to snatch a motorbike from an individual. When he refused to give in to their demands, they opened fire, inflicting a head injury.
The victim was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries.

A similar incident was reported from Quaidabad Murghi Khana, where a swimming pool owner was killed for refusing to obey the robbers.
"We rushed to the scene immediately after hearing the sound of gunfire," said a rescue official. "When we arrived, the victim, Baber, was lying on the ground, injured. We took him to the hospital, but he couldn't survive."
Following the incident, residents foiled the escape attempt of one of the robbers, who opened fire. The residents caught and tortured the robber to death, while his accomplice fled.
According to police, the deceased was a father of three, including two daughters and a son. The police collected evidence from the scene and launched a search for the escaped robber.

Earlier on Tuesday, robbers shot and killed Imran, an employee of a private garment factory, near Radio Pakistan's Quaidabad poultry farm in Shah Latif Town.
Additionally, on Sunday, March 2, robbers shot and killed 65-year-old Khan Muhammad, a shopkeeper, in the Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth area of Sachal, for resisting a robbery attempt.
