Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Wednesday acknowledged delays in the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, expressing concern over the prolonged timeline for its completion.
Speaking to the media, he said the project, which remains incomplete, has become a source of embarrassment, adding that he had been informed it may take up to two more years to finish.
Wahab noted that Sindh's transport minister is making efforts to expedite the project’s completion.
Separately, the mayor announced that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has become the first local council in Pakistan to digitize its salary disbursement process.
As part of the digital shift, Wahab revealed that 101 individuals receiving dual salaries have been identified, and legal action will be taken against them.
