Karachi to receive first spell of monsoon rains from July 5

The season’s first monsoon spell is likely to hit Karachi from July 5 (Friday), ARY News reported citing the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD).
Karachi has been reeling under the sizzling temperatures for almost two weeks with mercury exceeding 48°C.
A weather analyst said that a medium-level pressure is expected to be created over the Arabian Sea on June 30.
Under the influence, the first spell of downpour is expected to hit the metropolis in the first week of July.
However, scorching weather is expected to end in the port city as the sea breezes restored last night.
The PMD said that the winds are blowing at a speed of 18 kilometres per hour, adding that the metropolis will witness hot and humid weather till tomorrow (July 2).
According to Met Office, the maximum temperature is expected to hover between 35°C to 37°C today. Currently, the level of humidity in the air is 70%.
The megapolis also recorded its hottest night of July since 2021 last night.
The minimum temperature recorded in the city in the last 24 hours was 32°C, added the met department.
