Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry on Sunday stated that the Pakistan Army has fulfilled the promises it made to the nation following recent hostilities with India.

Addressing a press conference, Lt Gen Chaudhry said the military’s response came in the wake of “dastardly attacks” that began on the night of May 6 and 7, 2025, which led to the loss of innocent civilian lives, including women, children, and the elderly.

He outlined the details of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, launched in response to the Indian military aggression.

“Pakistan had vowed to deliver justice for the brutal killing of our civilians,” the army spokesperson said. “We responded with resolve, professionalism, and in accordance with our national security objectives.”

Key takeaways from ISPR press conference:

  • Pakistan Army fulfilled its promise of a strong response to Indian aggression that killed civilians.
  • 26 Indian military installations and facilities were hit in retaliatory strikes.
  • Dozens of Pakistani armed drones flew over major Indian cities, including New Delhi.
  • No Indian pilot is in Pakistani custody, DG ISPR confirmed.
  • DG ISPR praised Pakistani youth for acting as frontline “information and cyber warriors.”
  • Pakistan’s response showcased joint operational excellence across Army, Navy, and Air Force.
  • Pakistan Navy prevented an Indian warship from violating maritime boundaries: Vice Admiral.
  • Pakistan downed six Indian jets.
  • Pakistan never requested a ceasefire.
  • India was directly involved in sponsoring terrorism within Pakistan.
  • Pakistan’s armed forces have not violated the ceasefire agreement.

The DG ISPR emphasised that Pakistan’s armed forces remain vigilant and committed to defending the country’s sovereignty and protecting its citizens.

'26 military installations targeted'

He said the Pakistan Army targeted 26 military installations and facilities during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos in response to Indian aggression and attacks that resulted in civilian casualties.

The military spokesperson further stated that the army struck sites that were used to target Pakistani civilians and those involved in fostering terrorism in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and within India.

“The targets included air force and aviation bases located in Suratgarh, Sirsa, Adampur, Bhuj, Naliya, Bathinda, Barnala, Halwara, Avantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Mamoon, Ambala, Udhampur and Pathankot,” said Lt Gen Chaudhry, noting that these facilities sustained “significant damage.”

He further said that installations related to the BrahMos missile system — which he said had been used to launch attacks into Pakistan resulting in civilian deaths — were also destroyed.

The DG ISPR paid tribute to the civilians martyred in the conflict and expressed sympathies for their families, offering prayers for the recovery of the injured.

He extended appreciation to the armed forces for what he described as their professionalism, dedication, and sacrifices during the operation.

“The armed forces are grateful to the people of Pakistan for their moral strength, unity, and unwavering support, which acted as a force multiplier during this critical time,” he said.

Acknowledging the role of young Pakistanis in countering disinformation, Lt Gen Chaudhry praised their efforts in cyberspace and also commended the national media for its unified stance during the crisis.

He expressed gratitude to political leadership across the spectrum for their backing of the military’s actions and appreciated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for what he termed “bold and decisive leadership.”

'No Indian pilot in Pakistan custody'

DG ISPR has refuted widespread social media claims that Pakistan has captured an Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot, calling the reports "fake news and propaganda."

Addressing a press briefing, he dismissed the rumors as unfounded and attributed them to misinformation campaigns circulating online. “This is all part of fake news and propaganda that has been generated from multiple sources,” he stated.

'PAF 6-0'

Meanwhile, Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb provided details of Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) recent operations, describing the military response to Indian air activity as deliberate and calculated. “The PAF’s response was based on the time and place of our own choosing,” he said, citing the leadership’s clear direction and decisive resolve.

He added that PAF operations demonstrated “unprecedented reach, precision, and lethality” while avoiding civilian casualties. According to Aurangzeb, the PAF targeted the maximum number of IAF airfields in a single operational package since 1971, following India’s reported airspace violations.

The Air Vice Marshal stated that Pakistan's actions were aimed at reestablishing deterrence and rejecting attempts to normalize cross-border military incursions.

“Pakistan negated the setting of a new normal under the hegemonistic design of a supremacist regime through swift and effective response,” he added.
