Almost 51 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers on Saturday were sentenced to 5 years in jail, each, in the May 9 violence case.
The anti-terrorism court (ATC) Judge Natasha Naseem Supra handed down the sentences to the accused for their involvement in vandalising Gujranwala Cantt and torching four vehicles.
According to police, a man was killed and ten law enforcers, including a Superintendent of Police (SP), were injured in the attack.
The hearing of the case was held at Central Jail Gujranwala, where the suspects are incarcerated.
The May 9 riots were triggered almost across the country after the former prime minister's arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.
During the protests, the miscreants targeted the civil and military installations including, the Jinnah House and the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
Hundreds of PTI workers and senior leaders were put behind bars for their alleged involvement in violence and attacks on military installations.
The Pakistan's military termed May 9 "Black Day" and decided to try the protesters under the Army Act.
