Pakistan rejects Indian propaganda on terror threats during Champions Trophy

Pakistan strongly dismissed reports of terror threats to foreign nationals propagated by Indian media during the ICC Champions Trophy, with Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stating that the country is hosting the event "peacefully and very efficiently."

Several Indian media outlets published reports claiming that Pakistan’s Intelligence Bureau had issued a threat alert, warning of potential attacks on foreign nationals in various cities amid the ongoing international tournament.

The reports named Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Islamic State (IS), and Baloch armed groups allegedly planning kidnappings for ransom.

In response, Attaullah Tarar strongly condemned the reports, calling them "false, baseless, and fabricated propaganda" driven by India's inability to accept Pakistan’s successful hosting of the ICC event.

He accused India of attempting to sabotage sports in Pakistan, adding that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was involved in spreading misinformation.

Tarar rejected the threat alerts circulating in Indian media, emphasising that Pakistan remains one of the safest venues for international cricket and has successfully conducted ICC matches without any security issues.

He further stated, "India’s propaganda will fall flat on its face."

He highlighted that stadiums have been packed with enthusiastic crowds, and the country is eager to host more international tournaments in the future.
