Pakistan seeks Interpol help to arrest extortionists targeting Karachi traders

A significant development has emerged against the rising incidents of extortion targeting traders in Karachi, as the Ministry of Interior, on the recommendation of Sindh Police, has written to Interpol and provided a list of extortionists for their arrest.
According to sources, the Ministry of Interior has formally contacted Interpol to take action against individuals involved in extortion in Karachi.
On the recommendation of Sindh Police, a list of extortionists has been shared so that suspects residing abroad can be arrested.
Sources say the federal government has also approached Interpol for the arrest of alleged gang-war-linked extortionist Wasi Lakho.
Additionally, Sindh Police has written to the federal authorities seeking assistance for the arrest of Ahmed Mugsi.
It is worth noting that Karachi builders held a press conference yesterday to raise concerns over extortion.
They have also met the Sindh chief minister and provincial home minister to draw attention to the city’s law-and-order situation and increasing extortion cases.
