A Pakistani driver working for a luxury transport company in the UAE has been sentenced to one year in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a female passenger.
The incident occurred in April 2024 when a Polish national hailed a ride from a hotel in Dubai’s Business Bay area.
The driver allegedly deviated from the route and took the intoxicated woman to a secluded, dark area where the assault took place.
The victim recalled only partial memories of the event but managed to reach a nearby building and take another taxi home.
The next morning, after recalling more details, she reported the incident to the police and underwent a forensic medical examination, which corroborated her account.

During the investigation, the driver denied the allegations, claiming the woman could not remember her address and had no money. However, forensic evidence supported the victim’s claims.
The driver also argued that misinterpretations occurred during police questioning due to the absence of a translator, but the court found him guilty.
The case underscores ongoing concerns about passenger safety in ride-sharing services and highlights the swift legal action taken in the UAE to address such offenses.
