Pakistanis are celebrating Eid ul Fitr today with religious zeal as large congregational prayers were held at mosques, Eidgahs, and open grounds across the country.

Worshippers offered special prayers for national security, prosperity, and the well-being of Muslims worldwide, particularly those in Palestine.

Authorities implemented strict security measures to ensure a peaceful celebration and prevent any untoward incidents.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended Eid ul Fitr greetings to the nation on Monday, emphasising unity, compassion, and economic stability in their separate messages.

President Zardari highlighted the significance of sharing joy with those facing economic hardships, urging citizens to fulfill their obligations of Zakat, charity, and Fitrana. “True happiness is related to sharing joys with others,” he stated.

He described Eid as a reward for fasting and worship during Ramadan, calling it “a gift from Allah Almighty.” He urged people to continue practicing patience, honesty, and compassion beyond the holy month. “Now, it is our responsibility to follow these lessons in our daily lives and uphold sincerity, honesty, and love in our practical lives,” he said.

The president also stressed national unity, calling on Pakistanis to support one another for the country's progress. Additionally, he expressed solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), praying for their freedom and the opportunity to celebrate Eid in peace.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, acknowledged the internal and external challenges Pakistan faces. He urged citizens to reject extremism, hatred, and sectarianism, stressing that national integrity requires unity and vigilance.

“The country faces threats from both internal and external enemies,” he stated, adding that “we must stay united to prevent any conspiracy from succeeding.”

He reiterated the government’s commitment to economic recovery, maintaining peace, and ensuring social stability. He also honored the sacrifices of the armed forces in the fight against terrorism, extending solidarity to the families of the martyrs.

The prime minister urged the nation to remember the struggles of the people of Palestine and IIOJK, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for their right to freedom. “The international community must act swiftly to halt human rights violations and deliver justice to these innocent Muslims,” he asserted.

Both leaders prayed for Pakistan’s peace and prosperity and called for collective efforts to strengthen the nation.
