PIA air hostess arrested for smuggling US dollars, Saudi riyals at Lahore airport

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) air hostess was arrested by customs authorities for smuggling foreign currency concealed in her socks at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.
US dollars and Saudi Riyals worth millions of rupees in Pakistani currency were recovered from the national carrier flag's steward.
Air hostess was offloaded from a Jeddah-bound flight by customs authorities and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration officials on suspicion. A search uncovered Saudi Riyals and US dollars in her possession.
According to Deputy Collector of Customs Raja Bilal, the recovered amount includes $37,318 and 40,000 Saudi Riyals. These currency notes were concealed by the PIA air hostess in her socks.
The female cabin crew staff was handed over to the investigation team after a case was registered.
DC Customs Raja Bilal said that all necessary measures are being implemented to curb currency smuggling as directed by the Prime Minister and Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
A video showed the air hostess taking out the currency out of the socks she was wearing under her shoes.
Top officials of PIA were informed about currency smuggling by air hostesses.
