Amidst the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) due to circular debt, the sources revealed the pilots of the national flag carrier receive Rs430 million in the account of monthly salary and incentives.

A report submitted to the National Assembly by the public accounts committee revealed that as many as 313 pilots, including 262 permanent and 51 on a contract basis, were serving in the airline.

The report added that each permanent pilot was getting Rs103,000 monthly salary while they were paid Rs1,200,000 in an account of incentives and allowances.

Meanwhile, 51 pilots serving on a contract basis are being paid Rs114,000 salary and Rs1,400,000 as incentives and allowances.

Moreover, it was mentioned in the report that pilots were given 45 discounted and interline tickets as well.

According to the report, PIA was paying Rs430 million monthly to its pilots despite the increasing circular debt.

Earlier, in February, it had been revealed that at least 60 foreign pilots were working in the PIA.

The foreigners were receiving more attractive salaries than local pilots and were involved in $300,000 tax evasion and violation of rules.

In this regard, Skywings Aviation CEO Imran Aslam Khan had said that the pilots were being paid salaries and benefits in violation of the land.
