A bail petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court seeking suspension of the sentence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the “Toshakhana-2” case, citing serious health issues affecting his eyesight.
The petition, submitted by Barrister Salman Safdar and Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry, also includes an ancillary request to expedite the hearing in the £190 million case.
According to the petition, Imran Khan suffers from a severe condition in his right eye, diagnosed by Dr. Muhammad Arif of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
The diagnosis indicates that blood clots have critically damaged the eye, leaving only 15% vision.
The petition emphasizes that treatment for this condition cannot be adequately provided within jail facilities.
The legal request further notes that the former Prime Minister is 73 years old and seeks bail to allow him access to specialized medical care.
When asked by journalists whether Imran Khan himself realized the extent of his vision loss or was informed by doctors, Barrister Salman Safdar clarified that the PIMS medical team, following tests and research, informed Khan of the 85% loss of vision in his right eye.
The petition requests the court to grant bail so that Imran Khan can undergo urgent medical treatment for his deteriorating eyesight.
