Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed relevant authorities to prohibit the use of red carpets at governmental events.
Expressing dissatisfaction with their use during visits by federal ministers and senior officials, the prime minister has mandated the ban in accordance with directives from the Cabinet Division.
Red carpets will now be reserved solely for diplomatic receptions, as stated in the notification. Additionally, in a recent move towards austerity, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and members of the federal cabinet have decided to voluntarily forgo their salaries and benefits.
This decision aligns with the government's commitment to prioritizing austerity measures, as emphasized by the Prime Minister in previous statements.
Furthermore, in a similar demonstration of fiscal responsibility, President Asif Ali Zardari has opted not to receive salary and perks, recognizing the economic challenges confronting the nation.
