PM Shehbaz unveils special courts, quotas, jobs for overseas Pakistanis

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif unveiled a special relief package for overseas Pakistanis during the First Annual Overseas Pakistanis’ Convention held in Islamabad on April 15, 2025.
Key measures include the establishment of special courts across provinces for the speedy resolution of legal cases involving the diaspora.
Addressing attendees, the premier announced a 5% quota for children of overseas Pakistanis in federal universities and said 3,000 seats would be reserved for them in medical colleges. A five-year age relaxation in government jobs was also declared.
Sharif revealed that Punjab had introduced online sale deed registration and allocated a special facilitation office for overseas citizens. He further announced that an international airport would be developed in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the diaspora.
The premier also committed to recognizing the achievements of Pakistanis abroad by awarding 15 civil awards annually on August 14.
Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, speaking at the event, praised the diaspora as symbols of “brain gain” and ambassadors of Pakistan. He reaffirmed national unity and Pakistan’s resilience against threats, particularly in Balochistan.
