PTI's Barrister Gohar, Raoof Hasan arrested from Islamabad Secretariat

The federal capital's police on Monday arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Barrister Gohar Khan and Information Secretary Raoof Hasan from the party's secretariat in Islamabad.

PTI MNA, Ali Ijaz Buttar claimed on X that the party's top leadership was arrested from inside the office.

Similarly, Shibli Faraz said the police apprehended both party leaders without disclosing the reason.

However, the police neither rejected nor confirmed the claims of PTI about their bigwigs’ arrest.

On the other hand, PTI’s spokesperson claimed only Raoof Hasan was arrested during the raid.

Sources said that before arresting the leaders, police contingents, along with women police constables, cordoned off the secretariat office from all four sides and closed the roads surrounding the party office.

They added that at the time of the police raid Barrister Gohar and Raoof Hasan were in the office. 

The informers further said that the police also took away computers with them.

Security sources claimed that the police conducted an evidence-based raid at the digital media cell, as the media cell was allegedly "spreading disinformation".

They said that people were arrested with equipment as they were allegedly involved in anti-nation propaganda with the agencies working against Pakistan.

"Digital Cell was running a propaganda company to provoke the people,” sources added.
